Jerry Gabert Recognized by GFP

BIT Employee, Jerry Gabert, was recognized by the Department of Game, Fish and Parks for his outstanding public service to the South Dakota GFP employees.

In detail, the award says, “In recognition of your outstanding diligence and dedicated public service reflecting a high degree of concern for the safety and well-being of Game, Fish and Parks employees.”

Jerry has had a longstanding relationship with the Game, Fish and Parks Region 3 in Sioux Falls. In 2002, Jerry worked closely with GFP when the first digital radios were introduced to the department. He was tasked to work with GFP employees statewide and other agencies to develop radio channel plans, perform installs, and address any issues with the newly implemented system.

In 2010, GFP upgraded to newer XTL/XTS digital radios that provided a greater depth of channel capacity than the previous radios. Jerry assisted with incorporating local government channels into the GFP radios and helped develop a new channeling program. Currently, Game, Fish and Parks has 227 channels and 38 scan lists incorporated into their radio system.

Upon receiving his award, Jerry stated, “They have been terrific people to work with over the years, so this has been a pleasure working with them!”

Congratulations, Jerry! Thank you for your dedication!
