Purchasing iPad Apps

State government agencies are no longer required to obtain the state's Office of Procurement Management (OPM) and the Bureau of Information and Telecommunications' (BIT) approval to use their State Purchasing Card to purchase iPad apps from the Apple App Store.

This change to the purchasing card policy only applies to iPad app purchases for $1,000 and below; other card purchases from the App Store for items such as iPads require moratorium approval and also authorization from Steven Berg (OPM) and Deb Dufour (BIT).

Each state agency is directly responsible for managing their iPad app purchases and each agency controls the type of apps purchased. They must also ensure that the apps purchased are for official state government business and not for personal use.
