Top Reasons to Consider a Career with BIT
State-of-the-Art Technology and Equipment
South Dakota is one of few states where information and technology services have been fully and successfully centralized. It is one of even fewer states that has been centralized for more than 15 years; having achieved this in 1996. Since that date, centralization has accomplished tremendous financial and technology efficiencies for the state. With that, our staff continue to work in an environment that promotes the latest software and newest technology so they are well equipped to do their jobs.
Training and Educational Opportunities
It is a strong belief to recruit, build and retain a highly skilled workforce by investing our efforts in mentoring, training and professional development opportunities for our staff.
An Occupational Career Ladders and Pay Banding for technology and software engineers was implemented in July 2012. Technology engineers support the state’s technology infrastructure and software engineers develop business applications systems. It is critically important to attract and retain talented individuals in these professions. This new pay system is market-based and the State of South Dakota continues efforts to ensure these professionals are receiving pay commensurate with their private sector counterparts.
The customers are the most important part of the business at BIT and we are committed to helping them succeed as well as provide an excellent level of support to reduce costs, improve efficiencies and ultimately provide better products and services to the citizens of South Dakota. BIT provides a variety of services, including: project management, technology integration, software and hardware, hosting, collaboration, telephony, document imaging, computer and network support services, GIS, ongoing technology maintenance and much more.
