BIT is currently in the process of testing a product from Microsoft called SharePoint. So what is SharePoint? SharePoint is more than just a document drive; it’s a point or virtual place where people can share information electronically in a secure, structured environment.  Using SharePoint could benefit your agency or department through:
  • Management and sharing of documents, anywhere, anytime;
  • List Libraries;
  • Collaboration;
  • Internet Sites;
  • Workflow Management; and
  • Skydrive Pro.
If your agency would like to test SharePoint, please reach out to your BIT Point of Contact to look at setting up a site for you and/or your agency.  SharePoint is licensed with 2 models, Standard and Enterprise.  Basic features such as the items listed above are part of the Standard License Agreement and would be priced per user.  Any other development/designing and or branding could be a potential increase per user to an Enterprise level agreement.  To access any part of the SharePoint Infrastructure users will need to be licensed with a minimum of the Standard CAL.
