Employee Recognition

On a quarterly basis, BIT recognizes staff in honor of their outstanding performance and dedication to our agency, state government and the citizens of South Dakota. This time around, we gladly recognize Andy Ogan, Norm Harrod and Craig DeTample for their high standards of excellence and thank them for all they do.

Andy Ogan receiving his award from David Zolnowsky,
BIT Commissioner

Andy has successfully navigated the waters of the South Dakota Broadband Initiative program, a $7M+ program to inventory broadband across SD.  In its’ fifth year, he has been a cornerstone for its’ success from the beginning. Andy has juggled this task along with engineering technical solutions for the government, Board of Regents, and K12 networks.   He has helped design redundant connections to the REED network to increase its survivability, implemented bandwidth shaping on state-wide area network connections, and helped engineer new solutions on numerous agency projects.   Andy’s technical writing and graphic design skills are in high demand and he willingly gives his time to help out all BIT divisions.

Craig DeTample receiving his award from David Zolnowsky,
BIT Commissioner

Craig has worked for BIT in the Data Center since 2007.  Among other duties, he was the driving force behind developing and now running the Technology Purchase/RFP/MOU/and Contracts process for the state. Operationally, Craig led the state’s recent imaging review project which included writing, issuing, and assessing an RFP. He is always willing to help his co-workers usher projects through the various processes he supports and coordinates.  You can often find him working closely with members of the PMO group as they select the appropriate contracts clauses and vendor questions for a technology project.  Starting this spring, Craig is also adding coordinating the BIT internal phases of the State Technology Roadmap process to his list of duties.  Craig’s work and support of his co-workers are a significant benefit to BIT.

Norm Harrod

Norm has demonstrated the ability to analyze applications, determine their function, diagnose their issues, and remediate them quickly. Norm is the primary Team 5 troubleshooter for .Net development issues. In addition, Norm developed the Workforce Summit online registration application, is a member of the BIT Web Services team, and mentors another developer to step into his Web Services roll. Norm always has the time to discuss other development issues with anyone who comes to him with a problem. His wide breadth of knowledge is a significant benefit to all of the developers he works with.

Congratulations and keep up the great work!
